Kaago in performance present a series of narratives drawn from village life and from encounters with the spirits of the bush, with vivid dance and mime sequences expertly paced by compelling percussion and the power of the voice and the mask. Keeping alive the sophisticated and always evolving traditions of ensemble-playing, this group are led and directed by the extraordinary djembe-playing of master-drummer Henri GaoBi and feature percussionists and dancers drawn from the free spirits of the Cote d’Ivoire’s Ballet Africaine.
